The creation of the NitroHolster, a holder for a nitroglycerin bottle,
resulted from my need for an efficient way to carry the bottle of
nitroglycerin tablets that my doctor said I would have to carry with me
for the rest of my life.
Originally, after a few weeks of carrying the nitroglycerin bottle in my
pocket, I could no longer read the label which was torn and rubbed clean
of print. Though I hunted for a holder which would protect the bottle
and prescription information, I found only containers which held a few
nitroglycerin tablets and required that the original bottle be opened
before I needed to use the medication. These holders were unacceptable
for me because the potency life of the nitroglycerin would be reduced and
the bottle with the instructions left elsewhere.
I designed and created the NitroHolster after exhausting attempts to find
one already on the market which allowed me to keep the tablets in the
original, unopened bottle with the prescription information , expiration
date, and usage directions in tact. I made a prototype and used it
myself. Friends saw it and asked me to make one for them. My doctor saw
it and asked me to make some for him to give to his other heart patients.
So, I polled some pharmacists who gave me encouragement and a thumbs up.
Because of the obvious need, I sought and gained a patent on the
NitroHolster. I have placed it on the market now for others who need to
carry nitroglycerin with them where ever they go.
